Community Ecology and Evolution Lab NanJing University, China

WeiMing has broad interests in species interactions and coexistence, community dynamics, biodiversity–ecosystem functioning, and biodiversity conservation. His PhD will focus on the recovery dynamics of food webs after extreme climatic events. He is also working with Jinlin to develop the idea of the “Ecology of Failures”.”

He worked as a Research Assistant 2025-2026 at CEE, collecting life history data of fruit flies and their parasitoids and deploying molecular methods to study their food webs. During Master’s research at Fudan University (复旦大学), he combined field surveys with statistical modelling to study the ecology and conservation of the large Indian civet (Viverra zibetha). WeiMing is a nature enthusiast and remember almost all the info boards in our beloved city zoo.
