Jinlin Appointed as Associate Editor for JAE
I’m delighted to share the news that I have been appointed as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Animal Ecology (JAE) —- one of the flagship journals of the British Ecological Society.
JAE holds a very special place in my academic journey. It was the journal that published my very first lead-author paper on species coexistence. That experience gave me a first-hand appreciation for the journal’s high standards and the constructive, rigorous feedback that sharpens a paper into its best possible version. I still remember attending my first BES Annual Meeting in 2019, completely awed by the breadth of exciting research, and the thrill of presenting my own first DPhil results at the virtual meeting in 2020. The warmth and support I received from the community, and the high standards left a lasting impression on me.
So becoming an Associate Editor feels like a meaningful way to give back to the journal and society that shaped me. I’m truly honoured to take on this role, and I look forward to contributing to the community that has given me so much.
On a related note, I’ve also observed that a growing number of young Chinese researchers have joined JAE’s editorial board this time. Since moving back to China, it is really exciting for me to see the rapid development and keen interest in Animal Ecology taking place in China right now. It’s an exciting time to be part of this field, and I feel fortunate to witness, and contribute to, this momentum.
